Summer Emergency Outreach Meals 2 (1).gif

Terri

By the time that I was a year old, my mother and father were deceased. The sexual abuse by my uncle began when I was four years old. At age 13, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired of ongoing molestations and physical abuse. So, I sought a way to escape from the abuse and became homeless. Over the next 20 years, I moved from alcohol to marijuana to heroin to meth to crack cocaine. I was trying to find healing from the memories of my childhood trauma. Thanks to Grace Beyond Borders. They were always there for me, I was rescued, and I entered my first recovery program. I completed my first domestic violence and trauma recovery program in 2018. I continued my recovery and graduated from the Life Treatment Center in March 2019.

Because of YOU, I am writing some new and victorious chapters in my life storybook. You cared, so I am alive. You prayed for me, so I am living drug-free. You supported the mission of Grace Beyond Borders, so I am no longer homeless. More women like me are looking for freedom, healing, hope, and love! I needed YOU, and they need YOU too!” Thank you!

From Crisis to Renewal with Grace Beyond Borders

When I found myself homeless, fear and uncertainty weighed heavily on me. With the last of my money, I booked a room, unsure of what the next steps would be. Desperate for help, I reached out to Mr. Marcus Martin at Grace Beyond Borders. What happened next was nothing short of a blessing.

Mr. Marcus and Ms. Marcie visited me with groceries and a thoughtful blessing bag, bringing not just physical relief but emotional comfort as well. Speaking with Sylvia was a gift in itself—her calm and reassuring words eased my stress and panic, allowing me to breathe again. In the days that followed, I began to find rest in prayer and by reading the Word of God. Grace Beyond Borders truly reflects God’s love in action.

Throughout my journey, I kept in touch with their incredible team. Their guidance and support were constant as I navigated the challenges of daily life. During my search for a new home, I nearly fell victim to a rental scam, but their advice and insight protected me. They were there, every step of the way, ensuring I stayed on the right path.

Finally, through a friend from my youth, I connected with someone who offered me a basement apartment to rent. For the first time in what felt like forever, I was no longer homeless.

To anyone going through trials, I encourage you: do not lose hope, love, or faith. Sometimes, the hardest moments can lead to the greatest transformations if you are open to receiving help. Grace Beyond Borders is filled with compassionate people who genuinely care and want to see you succeed.

To Mr. Marcus, Ms. Marcie, Sylvia, and the entire Grace Beyond Borders team: thank you for your love, compassion, and patience during my time of need. You’ve inspired me, and I hope to one day pay it forward and help others as you’ve helped me.

With gratitude and hope,
Maria

After living in my home for two years, my daughters and I suddenly found ourselves homeless. Without warning, new property owners took over and began harassing and intimidating us. We were served an unjust eviction notice and, in a heart-wrenching act, were illegally locked out of our home. The trauma of losing our home was overwhelming for my children and me. It felt like our world was falling apart.

With the help of an attorney, I briefly regained access to gather our belongings, but by then, the damage had been done. I sank into a deep depression, crippled by fear, anger, and a sense of hopelessness. My children and I moved into a hotel, but when my money ran out, we were left with nowhere to turn. That’s when I found Grace Beyond Borders—broken, depleted, and utterly afraid.

At Grace Beyond Borders, we found not only shelter but a lifeline. The beautiful women of God, along with Mr. Martin and his vision, embraced us with open arms. They didn’t just give us a place to stay; they gave us hope. Through their support, I found strength I didn’t know I had. With their help, I secured employment, and slowly, I began to shed the fear, anger, and resentment that had consumed me. I became hopeful, empowered, and filled with gratitude.

Today, I am no longer the woman who was afraid of tomorrow. I am encouraged, my daughters are thriving, and we are filled with gratitude for the love and support we received.

UPDATE: With the incredible help of our case manager, Ms. Robinson, my daughters and I have now moved into a beautiful two-bedroom home. We’ve found stability, peace, and a fresh start. Grace Beyond Borders gave us more than just a roof over our heads—they gave us the tools to rebuild our lives.

Gratitude! Gratitude! Gratitude!
